Keith Olbermann‘s return to sports broadcasting is reportedly over.
Citing multiple “media and network television sources,” the website Sports By Brooks reports that Olbermann will no longer appear on Football Night in America.
According to the report, the move comes at the request of NBC News. Last season, Olbermann missed multiple Friday editions of his MSNBC talk show due to Sunday NFL commitments.
There was “no indication” that Olbermann’s left-leaning politics had anything to do with the move. Neither did “any conflict with cast or production crew members,” especially notable considering Olbermann’s ugly break-ups with ESPN and FOX Sports.
Olbermann joined Football Night in America in 2007, serving as co-host alongside Bob Costas and Dan Patrick (since 2008).
