Fresh off of shedding its conference affiliation, BYU football is headed to ESPN.
ESPN has acquired the rights to BYU football home games starting with the 2011 season. The deal is set to run through 2018, with ESPN holding an option for 2019.
Under the deal, ESPN/ABC will air a minimum of three BYU games per season, with at least one other game airing on ESPNU. The network will “receive first selection rights to all BYU home games,” including neutral site games where BYU is the home team.
BYU announced on Wednesday that it will leave the Mountain West Conference in 2011. The school will become an independent in football and join the West Coast Conference in other sports.
