After two years of courtship, Fox Sports and Alex Rodriguez are finally ready to make it official.
Fox Sports announced Tuesday that Rodriguez has joined the family of networks full-time under a multi-year contract. Rodriguez, who served as a guest studio analyst on FOX and Fox Sports 1 the past two postseasons, will continue working in the studio but also offer the occasional game analysis.
He will also serve as a feature reporter and appear on the FS1 studio show MLB Whiparound.
When Fox Sports first tapped Rodriguez as a guest analyst two years ago, it seemed an unlikely position for one of the most reviled players in the history of the game. Yet Rodriguez immediately impressed media observers — and presumably viewers as well — during his two years of postseason analysis.
Fox Sports executives have been even higher on Rodriguez, with president/production John Entz saying last year that the former Yankee 3B had “exceeded all” expectations and left them “unbelievably impressed.”
