Thanks to a low bar set last year, ABC eked out a rare increase in NBA overnights on Sunday.
Jazz-Spurs scored a 1.8 overnight rating on ABC’s NBA Sunday Showcase yesterday, up a tick from Thunder-Rockets last year (1.7) but down 47% from Bulls-Cavaliers in 2015 (3.4). The slight bump is the first for a game on ABC since Thunder-Cavaliers on January 30 (+9%).*
Excluding Warriors games, the 1.8 is the highest for the NBA on ABC in more than a month — since Bulls-Cavaliers on February 25 (1.9).
Celtics-Knicks had a 1.5 overnight earlier in the day, down 40% from Rockets-Thunder two years ago (2.5). There was no comparable window last year. The 1.5 is the fifth-lowest for the NBA on ABC this season, with the Celtics having played in three of the bottom six.
* For Warriors-Thunder on February 11, which had a season-high 4.1 overnight, there was no comparable year-ago window.
