After three stellar outings, NFL football on NBC fell back towards earthly levels on Sunday — but the numbers were still up double-digits from last year.
The Jets’ win over the Dolphins drew a 13.0 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night, up 10% from last year’s Colts/Cardinals blowout (11.8), but down 10% from Cowboys/Packers in 2008 (14.4).
The 13.0 overnight is the lowest of the young season for the NFL on NBC. The network’s first three telecasts each drew at least a 15.0.
As NBC noted in a press release, Sunday’s game faced “nine network season premieres” and still managed to win the night in primetime. The previous telecasts faced lower rated summer fare.
Miami-Ft. Lauderdale was the top market for Sunday’s game, with a 24.0. West Palm Beach (23.0), Las Vegas (22.2), Ft. Myers, FL (17.9) and New Orleans (17.6) round out the top five. New York was the #9 market, with a 15.1.
