A less-than-marquee opponent resulted in less-than-spectacular numbers for Notre Dame football on NBC.
NBC earned a 1.4 overnight rating for Saturday’s Western Michigan/Notre Dame game, down 44% from the network’s fifth Notre Dame telecast last year (BC/ND: 2.5) and down 48% from the fifth game in 2008 (PIT/ND: 2.7).
The 1.4 is tied as the lowest overnight of the season for a Notre Dame telecast on NBC, matching the number Pittsburgh/Notre Dame drew one week earlier.
The last Notre Dame game on NBC to draw a smaller overnight was Nevada/Notre Dame in September of last year (1.3).
Saturday’s telecast was outdrawn by regional college football action on ABC (3.6) and Arkansas/Auburn on CBS (2.7).
