After three straight weeks of strong numbers, CBS stumbled in the ratings for Saturday’s Arkansas/Auburn matchup.
Auburn’s high-scoring win over Arkansas drew a mere 2.7 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, down 44% from last year (ARK/UF: 4.8) and even with 2008 (TEN/UGA: 2.7).
The 2.7 overnight is the second-lowest of the season for a college football telecast on CBS, ahead of only Tennessee/LSU two weeks earlier (2.4).
Entering Saturday’s telecast, three of the previous four college football games on CBS had drawn at least a 5.0 overnight — all involving then-#1 Alabama.
Arkansas/Auburn was outdrawn head-to-head by regional action on ABC (3.6), and also trailed Saturday night’s Ohio State/Wisconsin clash on ESPN (4.8). However, the game did top Western Michigan/Notre Dame on NBC (1.4).
