Overnight ratings dropped by double-digits for Saturday’s Georgia/Florida rivalry game on CBS.
Florida’s overtime victory over Georgia drew a 3.5 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, down 27% from last year’s matchup between the same two teams (4.8). The 2008 Georgia/Florida game, which aired one week later in the season, drew a 4.4 overnight.
Neither Georgia nor Florida was ranked entering Saturday’s matchup, the first time in 31 years that both teams entered their rivalry game unranked. At the time of last year’s game, Georgia was unranked and Florida was #1 in the country. In 2008, Georgia was #6 and Florida was #8.
The 3.5 overnight ties Florida/Tennessee on September 18 as the fourth-lowest of the season for college football on CBS (nine telecasts).
Though down from previous years, Georgia/Florida topped regional college football action on ABC (3.3) and Tulsa/Notre Dame on NBC (1.5) head-to-head Saturday afternoon.
