ABC had increases in overnight ratings for both games of its college football doubleheader on Saturday.
The latest edition of ABC’s Saturday Night Football, featuring Nebraska/Texas A&M in 53% of TV markets, earned a 4.1 overnight rating — up 3% from last year (ORE/AZ*: 4.0), and up 17% from 2008 (BC/FSU*: 3.5).
This marks the fourth time this season that ABC has drawn at least a 4.0 overnight rating for Saturday Night Football. By comparison, the net hit that mark twice as many times through the same point last year.
Saturday Night Football topped NBC’s primetime Army/Notre Dame game by 78%.
Earlier in the day, Ohio State/Iowa earned a 4.6 overnight, up 44% from last year (PSU/MSU*: 3.2), and up 35% from 2008 (UNC/MD: 3.4).
Ohio State’s victory drew the largest overnight rating of the day for college football on any network, and the third-largest overnight of the season for an afternoon college football telecast on ABC.
