One of the more prominent tennis television analysts will be a bit less ubiquitous next year.
ESPN confirmed to USA Today that tennis analyst Mary Carillo will not return to the network in 2011, after she “asked out of the last year of her deal.”
Carillo had been with ESPN since 2003, after previously working for the network in the 1980s and 1990s.
Though ESPN has the rights to all four tennis Grand Slams, Carillo will likely maintain a television presence.
She serves as an analyst for both CBS and NBC, who collectively own the rights to the French Open (NBC), Wimbledon (NBC) and U.S. Open (CBS), and there was no immediate indication that she would be leaving either network.
