Despite featuring high profile programs Notre Dame and Miami, the Sun Bowl suffered a decline in overnight ratings on CBS Friday.
Notre Dame’s win over Miami in the Sun Bowl earned a 3.3 overnight rating on CBS Friday afternoon, down 8% from last year (OK/STAN: 3.6), but up 38% from 2008 (ORST/PITT: 2.4).
Despite the decline, the 3.3 overnight is reportedly the second-highest for the Sun Bowl over the past six years.
The Sun Bowl was one of just three college football bowl games on broadcast television this season. The Outback Bowl earned a 7.6 overnight on ABC New Year’s Day, and FOX is set to air the Cotton Bowl this Friday.
