Excluding the Winter Classic, last Sunday’s Penguins/Blackhawks game earned the largest audience for a regular season NHL telecast in five years.
NBC drew a 1.1 final rating and 1.9 million viewers for the Blackhawks’ overtime win over the Penguins last Sunday afternoon. Excluding the Winter Classic, the game ranks as the most-viewed regular season NHL game since NBC’s return telecast in January 2006 (NYR/DET*: 2.0M).
Penguins/Blackhawks was the second half of a rare NHL doubleheader on broadcast television. Ratings and viewership for the early regional window were not immediately available.
