Assuming it is played as scheduled, the 2011-12 NFL season will feature a slate of marquee matchups on NBC.
NBC is scheduled to begin its coverage of the 2011-12 NFL season with the Saints facing the Packers in the league’s now-traditional Thursday night Kickoff Game. Saints/Packers will be the first of eighteen regular season games on NBC.
Later in Week 1, the Jets host the Cowboys on what will be the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Of note, Washington hosts the Giants on FOX that same day.
In Week 2, NBC features what should be a hotly anticipated return as the Eagles and QB Michael Vick face the Falcons in Atlanta.
For the second straight year, NBC will likely air NFL coverage directly opposite the World Series. World Series dates are unavailable, but NBC will air Colts/Saints on October 23 and Cowboys/Eagles on October 30.
NBC wraps up its regular season coverage with its first Christmas Day NFL game since 2005, as the Bears face the Packers in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.
