NASCAR ratings hit another low last weekend, with the All-Star Race continuing a season-long trend of declines.
Last Saturday’s NASCAR All-Star Race had a 1.5 rating and 2.5 million viewers on FS1, down a tick in ratings and 14% in viewership from last year (1.6, 2.9M) and down 25% in both measures from 2016 (2.0, 3.3M).
It was the lowest rated NASCAR All-Star Race since at least 2005 and — per Sports Business Daily — the least-watched since at least 2003. The previous lows were set last year.
Excluding rainouts and “The Clash” — which increased over rain delay coverage last year — every single Cup Series telecast this season has hit a multi-year low in ratings and viewership.
Not surprisingly, the All-Star Race trailed the competing Celtics-Cavaliers (4.0, 6.8M) and Capitals-Lightning (1.7, 2.9M) conference final games. Even so, it ranked as the fourth-most watched sporting event of the weekend — trailing the aforementioned games and Rockets-Warriors on Sunday night (4.6, 7.8M).
NASCAR’s All-Star Race ranks fourth out of the major all-star events, behind last year’s MLB All-Star Game (5.5, 9.3M) and this year’s NFL Pro Bowl (5.3, 8.6M) and NBA All-Star Game (4.3, 7.7M). It ranks ahead of this year’s NHL All-Star Game (1.2, 2.0M).
