For nearly a full year, Charles Barkley has made no secret of his annoyance with the Miami Heat. Sunday night, Heat fans returned the favor, in less than polite terms.
Heat fans jeered Barkley constantly during Sunday’s pregame and postgame NBA studio shows on TNT, which took place outside Miami’s American Airlines Arena.
A towel was thrown in Barkley’s direction at one point during the postgame show, leading Barkley to warn, “Don’t make me come over there.”
As a result of the rowdy atmosphere, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports TNT will move its studio show indoors for Tuesday’s Game 4 coverage, as had been done for Games 1 and 2 in Chicago.
Last year, TNT conducted its studio coverage outdoors for Games 3, 4 and 6 of the Lakers/Suns series in Phoenix. There was a rowdy atmosphere for those shows as well, or at least it appeared that way on television. However, it was much friendlier for Barkley, a former Suns star who still lives in the area.
Like the vast majority of his contemporaries in the media, Barkley has been critical of the Miami Heat since the team acquired LeBron James and Chris Bosh in the offseason.
