The Georgia-Florida rivalry hit a six-year ratings high and delivered one of the top audiences of the season.
Georgia-Florida scored a 3.9 rating and 6.35 million viewers on the SEC on CBS Saturday, up 95% in ratings and 88% in viewership from last year (2.0, 3.38M) and up 50% and 43% respectively from 2016 (2.6, 4.45M), which featured the same matchup.
The Bulldogs’ win ranks as the fourth-highest rated and fifth-most watched college football game this season, and the top game on CBS.
It also ranks as the highest rated game in the Georgia-Florida rivalry since 2012 (4.2).
Georgia-Florida was easily the top college football game of week nine, nearly doubling the second-place Texas-Oklahoma State game on ABC (2.1, 3.49M). It marked just the second time this season that CBS has taken top honors.
Six of nine SEC on CBS windows this season have increased over last year, the lone exceptions being Tennessee’s three appearances.
Later Saturday, CBS drew a 1.5 and 2.45 million for Notre Dame-Navy — down a tick in ratings but up 1% in viewership compared to the rivals’ last meeting on CBS in 2016. That game aired at Noon ET (1.6, 2.42M).
Compared to the last time CBS aired Notre Dame-Navy in primetime — 2014 — ratings fell 35% (from 2.3) and viewership 37% (from 3.89M).
