NFL Network scored a ratings uptick for its Sunday morning game from London. Also: increases for the NFL singleheader on CBS, the Lakers on NBA TV, and figure skating on NBC.
Slight Uptick For London Game on NFL Network
Sunday’s Eagles-Jaguars NFL International Series game from London earned a 2.2 rating and 3.59 million viewers on NFL Network, up a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from Vikings-Browns in the same early morning window last year (2.1, 3.45M).
As should be no surprise, given it aired at 9:30 AM ET on NFL Network, the Eagles’ win was the lowest rated and least-watched NFL telecast of the season.
NFL Singleheader Up on CBS
The Week 8 NFL singleheader window delivered a 9.2 rating and 15.5 million viewers on CBS, up 3% in ratings and 2% in viewership from last year (8.9, 15.2M) and down 3% and 4% respectively from 2016 (9.5, 16.2M). Three of the four singleheader windows on CBS this season have increased.
Lakers Deliver Big Increase on NBA TV
Monday’s Lakers-Timberwolves NBA regular season game earned a 0.31 rating and 502,000 viewers on NBA TV, up 67% in viewership from last year (Spurs-Celtics: 301K) and up 185% from 2016 (Bulls-Nets: 176K). The Lakers have played in three national TV windows that can be compared to last year, and each has increased by at least 45 percent.
Skate Canada Up on NBC
Taped coverage of Skate Canada, part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, had a 0.6 rating and 880,000 viewers on NBC Sunday afternoon — up 13% in ratings and 16% in viewership from last year. NBC’s coverage aired on the final day of the event, while last year’s window took place more than a week after it ended.
Taped coverage of Skate America the previous day — which took place the previous weekend — had a 0.7 and 916,000. Portions of the telecast were preempted by breaking news coverage.
