ESPN’s daytime lineup will more familiar starting next week.
ESPN announced Tuesday that its daily block of talk shows will return to the lineup in shortened form starting Monday. Jalen & Jacoby will lead off at 4 PM ET, replacing the canceled High Noon as has been planned since February. That will be followed by Highly Questionable at 4:20 and Around the Horn at 4:40, with Pardon the Interruption continuing to air as part of SportsCenter at 5:30.
While PTI segments have been airing on SportsCenter throughout sports’ pandemic hiatus, Jalen & Jacoby, Highly Questionable and Around the Horn have not aired on television since March 11. The latter two shows have continued to air in shortened form on social media, with all talent appearing remotely.
In place of the shows, ESPN had been airing SportsCenter and NFL Live specials.
It was not clear whether any of the shows will be returning in any form to their usual studios. In a release announcing the news, ESPN said that many of its programs will “continue to be at least partially produced remotely.”
In addition to the return of the above-mentioned talk shows, ESPN will also add a half-hour of First Take Extra at 3:30. Prior to the current situation, that time period was occupied by a second half-hour of The Jump.
