TBS hit a postseason-high for Monday’s Game 3 between the Yankees and Tigers.
The third game of the Yankees/Tigers series earned a 3.9 U.S. rating and 6.046 million viewers on TBS Monday night, up 30% in ratings and 26% in viewership from the comparable game on the fourth day of last year’s postseason (MIN/NYY G3: 3.0, 4.810M). There was no comparable game in 2009.
Keep in mind last year’s game aired on a Saturday night, the least-watched night of the week.
Versus last year’s comparable Monday night game (SF/ATL G4: 3.0, 4.667M), Game 3 was up 30% in ratings and viewership.
Game 3 ranks as the most-viewed game of the postseason, and the top non-clinching Division Series game since last year’s Yankees/Twins Game 1 (6.914M).
The Tigers’ win earned a whopping 25.0 rating in Detroit and a 13.2 in New York.
Game 2 Least-Viewed Yankee Playoff Game Since ’06: On Sunday, the rescheduled Tigers/Yankees Game 2 drew a mere 1.9 U.S. rating and 2.937 million viewers on TNT.
Originally scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 PM ET, Game 2 aired opposite Diamondbacks/Brewers Game 3 on TBS for nearly two hours.
The game earned the smallest audience for a Yankees postseason game since Tigers/Yankees Game 2 in 2006 (2.890M, ESPN), which was also rescheduled due to rain.
