TBS finally earned decent numbers for the Brewers/Diamondbacks National League Division Series, but not before TNT earned yet another record-low audience for Game 3.
Tuesday’s Game 3 between the Brewers and Diamondbacks drew a 1.2 U.S. rating and 2.107 million viewers on TNT. There was no comparable game on the fifth day of last year’s postseason.
The Diamondbacks’ win earned the smallest audience ever for an MLB postseason game on Turner Sports (dates back to 2007). The previous low had been set by Game 2 of the series on TBS Sunday (2.132M).
Keep in mind that Tuesday’s game overlapped with Yankees/Tigers Game 4 on TBS (4.6, 7.012M) from 9:30-12:00 AM ET, no doubt a major inhibiting factor on the numbers.
On Wednesday, Game 4 of the series scored a 2.5 and 3.615 million viewers on TBS, easily the highest marks of the series. As with Game 3, there was no comparable game on the sixth day of last year’s postseason.
The stronger numbers for Game 4 are not surprising, as it was the first and only game of the series to air in primetime without any competition from other postseason telecasts.
In Milwaukee, Game 3 earned a 17.2 rating and Game 4 scored a 16.5. The Phoenix market turned in an 11.3 for Game 3 and a 12.0 for Game 4.
