Last week’s clash between Auburn and Georgia was down significantly from last year’s game between the same two teams, when the former was in the national championship hunt.
CBS earned a 2.6 final rating and 4.190 million viewers for #20 Auburn/#15 Georgia last Saturday afternoon, down 48% in ratings and 49% in viewership from the same matchup in Week 11 last season (UGA/AUB: 5.0, 8.262M), and down 35% and 34%, respectively, from 2009 (UF/SC: 4.3, 6.347M).
Saturday’s game was a 38-point blowout. Last year’s game, while not particularly close, involved the #2 team in the country.
Earlier in the day, Florida/#13 South Carolina earned a 1.7 and 2.617 million viewers, down a tick in ratings and 8% in viewership from last year (MISS/TENN: 1.8, 2.835M), and down 23% and 15%, respectively, from 2009 (TENN/MISS: 2.2, 3.069M).
The two games rank as the lowest rated and least-viewed SEC telecasts of the season on CBS.
