The first game of the NHL season set a record in the overnights.
The Flyers/Bruins NHL season opener drew a 0.8 overnight rating on NBCSN Wednesday night, up a tick from Capitals/Blackhawks last year (0.7) and the highest overnight ever for an NHL regular season game on the network (previously VERSUS and OLN).
The Sharks/Kings nightcap drew a 0.4, the second-highest ever for a late night game on NBCSN. Last year’s outdoor game between the Kings and Ducks drew a 0.5.
Locally, the Bruins’ win drew a 7.8 in Boston and a 4.7 in Philadelphia. The Sharks’ win drew a 1.4 in the Bay Area and a 1.1 in Los Angeles.
