In an about face, ESPN’s Mike and Mike in the Morning is staying put in Bristol. In other news, SportsCenter is headed on the road to several lower-tier sporting events, and the ESPN networks will triple coverage of the Pan Am Games next month.
ESPN’s Mike & Mike Staying in Bristol
- ESPN has reversed its decision to move the Mike & Mike in the Morning radio show to New York City, Sports Business Daily reported Wednesday. The show will remain in ESPN’s Bristol, CT headquarters. ESPN announced in May that the show would relocate to ABC’s Times Square studios in February, with plans to integrate talent and guests with Good Morning America. (Sports Business Daily)
SportsCenter Going on Road to Smaller Events
- ESPN’s SportsCenter will air on-site from six lower-tier sporting events over the next five weekends, starting with a three-hour show this Sunday from the Spokane Hoopfest basketball tournament. Additional shows will air from the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest (July 4), the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association Tournament (July 18), and the WNBA All-Star Game (July 25). (ESPN Media Zone)
ESPN Increases Pan Am Games Coverage
- ESPN and ESPN2 will air sixty hours of live Pan Am Games coverage next month, up from twenty hours in 2011. ESPN will air the opening ceremony on July 10 and final day coverage on July 26, with ESPN2 airing primetime windows each night in between.
