Overnight ratings for the NBA Finals reached series-high levels Tuesday night, but remain less than what was expected.
The Lakers’ Game 3 win drew a 10.8 overnight on ABC, up 38% from a 7.8 last year, but down 14% from a 12.6 for Lakers/Pistons Game 3 in 2004, the last time the Lakers made the NBA Finals.
Game 3 will likely finish with a final rating in the 8.8 – 9.4 range. Games 1 and 2 drew overnights of 10.4 and 10.2, and finished with final ratings of 8.7 and 8.5.
In Los Angeles, Game 3 drew a 28.6 rating, even with Game 3 in 2004. The game drew a 23.3 in Boston.
