For the fifth straight week, ratings for baseball on FOX failed to reach the 2.0 mark.
Regional action last Saturday averaged a mere 1.3/3, down 50% from a 2.6/6 for the comparable Yankees/Red Sox game last year. The 1.3 rating is the third-lowest of the season, behind a 1.2 the previous Saturday and a 1.1 on August 16.
In the past five weeks, FOX has averaged a 1.4 rating for MLB telecasts. Overall, FOX is averaging a 2.0 rating for MLB telecasts, down 15% from a 2.3 through 24 weeks last year.
Last year, MLB on FOX averaged a 2.3 rating during the regular season, a record low average for baseball on broadcast. In order to match last year’s rating, FOX will need to average approximately a 2.6 rating for the last two telecasts of the season.
