While CBS saw record ratings for the SEC title game, ABC saw ratings drop for the second-biggest college football game of the day, the Big 12 Championship Game.
Oklahoma’s blowout victory over Missouri, which helped the Sooners clinch a spot in the championship game, drew a 5.9 overnight rating on ABC Saturday night, down 19% from a 7.3 for the same match-up in the title game a year ago.
The 5.9 is the second-highest overnight for the Big 12 Championship Game in the past five years.
For the season, ABC averaged a 5.5 metered market rating for thirteen Saturday Night Football telecasts, up 21% from a 4.5 for twelve telecasts in ’07.
