A big week led to big ratings for the Miami Heat.
Matchups against NBA stars LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal helped Sun Sports to a week of impressive ratings for Miami Heat telecasts. Monday’s Cavaliers/Heat tilt, featuring the individual battle between James and Miami’s Dwyane Wade, drew a 4.9 rating locally, at the time the highest rating for a Miami Heat telecast on Sun Sports since April 2007.
Cavaliers/Heat was the “most-watched program in primetime among men 18 to 34” in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale market on Monday night.
Ratings jumped again two nights later when former Heat player Shaquille O’Neal made his first return to Miami. Suns/Heat drew a 5.6 rating on Sun Sports Wednesday night, the highest rating for a Heat telecast on the network since a Sonics/Heat game drew a 5.9 in 1998.
Suns/Heat was the top program of the day on cable, and was the top program on television overall among men 18-49, even topping the American Idol results show in the demo.
