Despite Duke playing in the game for the first time in three years, viewership dropped off for Sunday’s ACC Championship Game.
Duke’s win over Florida State drew 1.8 million viewers on ESPN Sunday afternoon, down 23% from 2.4 million for last year’s game between North Carolina and Clemson.
Some of the drop in viewership can be attributed to the fact that SEC Championship Game was airing at the same time on CBS. Last year’s SEC title game was rescheduled for a later timeslot and did not air opposite the ACC game.
The ACC Championship Game was not even the most viewed game of the ACC tournament. Duke/Maryland drew 1.9 million viewers late Saturday afternoon, up 7% from last year’s comparable Clemson/Duke game.
