In New York of all places, NASCAR won the ratings race against an NHL game involving the hometown Rangers.
Newsday.com reports that Sunday’s Bruins/Rangers tilt on NBC drew a 1.8 rating in N.Y., 14% lower than the 2.1 rating NASCAR’s Kobalt Tools 500 drew on FOX.
Needless to say, it is not a good sign when a NASCAR race in one of the lower rated NASCAR markets in the country (the 2.1 for the race in N.Y. is well below the 4.7 overnight the race drew nationally) outdraws an NHL contest involving a local team.
The Rangers’ game finished even further behind a Suns/Spurs game on ABC (2.7 rating) and Duke/North Carolina on CBS (3.0).
