The Stanley Cup Playoffs have not just been a hit locally.
Through ten games, Versus has averaged 434,832 viewers for coverage of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs, up 50% from 290,551 viewers through the same point in ’08. According to Versus president Jamie Davis, the net has also seen a 33% increase in household ratings.
On NHL Network, Davis noted that “[p]eople might say there?s a recession out there, but there’s not in television ratings for hockey.”
Davis also told the New York Times that games on Versus have seen a 121% increase in viewership in Washington and a 20% jump in New York.
