- As it turns out, Lakers/Nuggets Game 4 did not beat Jon and Kate Plus 8 head-to-head last Monday. Despite earlier reports that had Lakers/Nuggets Game 4 drawing 9.9 million viewers last Monday night, recently released numbers show that the game actually drew 9.7 million viewers — just short of the 9.8 million who tuned into the TLC reality show. The 9.7 million viewers still marks the third-most ever for an NBA Playoff game on cable.
- The 2009 NBA Playoffs dominated the month of May on cable. NBA Playoff games made up 9 of the 10 highest rated, most viewed cable programs of the month, led by Games 4 and 5 of the Magic/Cavaliers Eastern Conference Finals. Overall, 17 of the 19 highest rated cable programs in the month of May were NBA Playoff games. TNT finished as the highest rated cable network in prime time during the month of May, and ESPN finished fourth.
- The IRL got zero bounce from the Indianapolis 500, as the ABC Supply Co/A.J. Foyt 225 drew a mere 0.6 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon, down 25% from a 0.8 for the same race last year. This comes on the heels of ABC drawing the lowest rating for the Indy 500 in at least 36 years, and Versus averaging a mere 0.2 U.S. rating for its first three IRL telecasts.
