While a 41% increase in ratings may sound spectacular, a 2.4 rating is anything but.
Monday’s Del Potro/Federer U.S. Open men’s final drew a 2.4/5 final rating on CBS, up 41% from a 1.7/4 for Federer/Murray on a Monday afternoon last year, but down 35% from a 3.7/7 for Federer/Djokovic on a Sunday afternoon in ’07.
This marks the second-lowest rating for the men’s final of the U.S. Open since at least ’96.
For some perspective, the Monday afternoon conclusion of golf’s U.S. Open drew a 3.5/11 rating on NBC earlier this year.
