The start of the 2009-10 college football season drew solid numbers on ESPN Thursday night.
ESPN drew a 2.1 U.S. rating (2.4 cable) and 3.3 million viewers for South Carolina/N.C. State on Thursday, up 40% and 36%, respectively, from a 1.5 (1.8) and 2.4 million for the same matchup on the comparable night last year.
Meanwhile, the Oregon St./Boise St. nightcap drew a 2.5 U.S. rating (2.9 cable) and 3.9 million viewers. There was no comparable game last year.
The two games rank as the highest rated college football games on the opening Thursday of the season since ’04.
