- Satellite provider Dish Network is looking to capitalize on the dispute between DirecTV and Versus. Less than a day after DirecTV dropped Versus, Dish Network announced that it will make the network available to all of its subscribers for free through December 2. The move adds 9 million subscribers to Versus’ distribution.
- The September 27 Red Sox/Yankees game, originally scheduled to air on ESPN at 8 PM ET, has been moved back to 1 PM ET to accommodate the Yom Kippur holiday. ESPN will still televise the game. Meanwhile, TBS will air a special Friday night Red Sox/Yankees on September 25, as part of a “Pennant Race” package of games on TBS and MLB Network.
- ESPN has named the Dave Matthews Band the “official band of ESPN?s college football coverage.” The ESPN family of networks will use 10 songs from the Dave Matthews Band throughout the college football season, during both games and studio programming.
