For the sixth straight week, ratings improved significantly for final round coverage of the PGA Tour.
Final round coverage of the Deutsche Bank Championship drew a 2.2 final rating on NBC last Monday, up 47% from a 1.5 last year, but down 35% from a 3.4 in ’07. This marks the third-lowest rating for the final round of Deutsche Bank Championship since the tournament began in ’03.
Third round coverage on Sunday drew a 1.7, up 21% from a 1.4 last year, but down 35% from a 2.6 in ’07.
So far this season, final round coverage of the PGA Tour has averaged a 2.9 rating on CBS, NBC and ABC, up 26% from a 2.3 last year. This does not include the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the U.S. Open or the RBC Canadian Open, all of which suffered postponements due to rain.
In the past 6 weeks alone, final round coverage has averaged a 3.6 rating, up 112% from a 1.7 during the comparable period in ’08.
