Decimated by rain for the second straight year, ratings for the U.S. Open slipped on CBS.
Saturday night’s Clijsters/S. Williams women’s semifinal drew a 2.4/4 overnight rating on CBS, off 8% from a 2.6/5 for the Henin/Kuznetsova women’s final on the comparable night in ’07. There was no match on the comparable night last year, due to rain.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s Federer/Djokovic men’s semifinal drew a 3.2/6 overnight rating, down 16% from a 3.8/7 for the conclusion of the Nadal/Murray semifinal in the same timeslot last year, and down 24% from a 4.2/8 for the Federer/Djokovic men’s final in ’07.
