Another Tiger Woods victory led to another increase of over 100% for the PGA Tour.
Sunday’s final round of the BMW Championship drew a 2.6/5 overnight rating on NBC, up 117% from a 1.2/2 for last year’s final round, but down 19% from a 3.2/6 for his win in ’07.
This is the 5th of Woods’ 6 victories this year to have at least a 100% increase in overnight ratings. This also marks the 7th straight PGA Tour event to have at least a 50% rise in overnight ratings for final round coverage.
Despite the increase, this marks the lowest overnight rating for a Woods’ victory on broadcast since his win at the ’06 American Express Championship (now the WGC-CA Championship) drew a 2.1.
Additionally, this is the third-lowest overnight for the final round of the BMW Championship (previously the Western Open) since ’99.
