The FBI says it has caught the person who took hidden camera video of ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews.
Michael David Barrett, 48, was arrested at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago Friday night on federal charges of interstate stalking. Barrett “was linked to an e-mail account held by a person who tried to sell eight videos of Andrews to Web site TMZ.com.”
Barrett allegedly took hidden camera video of Andrews in two separate states last year. According to the FBI, Barrett “called many hotels to find out where Andrews was staying and requested a hotel room next to hers.”
Andrews, who is set to work tonight’s Auburn/Tennessee game for ESPN, said in a statement that she will “make every effort to strengthen the laws on a State and Federal level to better protect victims of criminal stalking.”
ESPN, in a separate statement: “This is clearly welcome news. Our thoughts & support continue to be with Erin who has demonstrated tremendous strength & determination.”
