ABC drew mixed numbers for last week’s college football doubleheader.
Saturday Night Football, featuring Connecticut/Cincinnati, drew a 3.6 final rating on ABC last week — down a whopping 52% from a 7.5 for last year’s comparable Texas/Texas Tech tilt. Keep in mind that last year’s Texas/Texas Tech game was the highest rated Saturday Night Football game of the season.
The 3.6 rating is the third-lowest of the season for Saturday Night Football.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Penn St./Ohio St. drew a 3.7 final rating, even with comparable coverage last year.
This marks the third time this season that ABC’s early afternoon window has drawn a higher rating than Saturday Night Football.
Through last week, ABC is averaging a 3.9/9 rating and 6.2 million viewers for college football coverage. The 6.2 million viewers is off slightly from 6.3 million through the same point last year.
