Brett Favre helped FOX to its second straight week of massive NFL ratings.
Sunday’s national NFL window, featuring Vikings/Packers, drew a 17.4/32 final rating and 29.8 million viewers on FOX — up 26% and 34%, respectively, from a 13.8/27 and 22.3 million for Giants/Steelers in Week 8 last year.
Vikings/Packers ranks as the highest rated, most-viewed NFL telecast since Patriots/Giants in ’07, which aired on CBS, NBC and NFL Network. Excluding that game, Vikings/Packers is the top NFL telecast since an ’07 Steelers/Patriots game (18.4, 30.3 mil).
Additionally, the Vikings’ win ranks as the second-most viewed Sunday regular season game ever on FOX, behind only a 1995 49ers/Cowboys game (32.1 mil).
This is the second straight week that FOX has drawn impressive ratings for its national NFL telecast. Last week, coverage featuring Falcons/Cowboys drew a 16.8/32 and 28.4 million viewers.
To put the numbers from the last two weeks in perspective, the most-viewed regular season NFL telecast of last season drew 25.7 million viewers.
