Los Angeles Angels play-by-play voice Rory Markas passed away on Monday. He was 54.
Markas had served as a play-by-play voice for the Angels since 2002. Additionally, he called USC men’s basketball games and served as a reporter for the Los Angeles FOX affiliate. Previously, Markas served as a broadcaster for the Clippers and Brewers.
In November ’08, Markas suffered a blood clot in his brain and “was in intensive care for 10 days after surgery” (Los Angeles Times, 10/9/08). He returned to call Angels games during the 2009 season.
