- ESPN has announced plans to launch a new 3D television network. ESPN 3D, set to launch later in 2010, will air a minimum of 85 live events in its first year. The debut telecast will be a FIFA World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico on June 11, with 3D telecasts of 24 other World Cup matches, the Summer X Games and the 2011 BCS National Championship Game to follow. - Versus will air 16 regular season and postseason NBA D-League games this season, with the first game set for January 16. As part of the deal, Versus will air 25 hours of additional NBA programming. In other NBA D-League news, NBA TV began airing a slate of 7 live NBA D-League telecasts on Monday, as part of the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase. The afternoon telecasts will continue through Thursday. - In the midst of a successful run in the ratings for Blackhawks telecasts, CSN Chicago has announced that it will air 18 out-of-market NHL telecasts beginning Saturday. The games, 16 of which will be in HD, will feature a host of teams from the Sharks to the Capitals. (Comcast)
