ESPN has made an addition to its crowded slate of college football bowls.
The Gator Bowl will air on the ESPN family of networks through 2014, as part of a multiyear television agreement announced Thursday. The game most recently aired on CBS.
Additionally, ESPN has reached extensions with the Outback and Capital One Bowls, keeping those games on the ESPN family of networks through 2014 and 2018, respectively.
The three games will air directly opposite each other on New Year’s Day. This season, the Gator Bowl will air on ESPN2 (1:30 PM ET), the Capital One Bowl will air on ESPN, and the Outback Bowl will air on ABC (both at 1 PM).
It was not immediately clear whether the bowl games would rotate between ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, or if they would stay on the same network each year.
Overall, only four bowl games will not air on ESPN or ESPN2 next year — the aforementioned Outback Bowl (ABC), the Cotton Bowl (FOX), the Sun Bowl (CBS) and the Insight Bowl (NFL Network).
