MLB Network announced a partnership with a cable competitor on Wednesday, the same day the network lost one of its studio hosts.
MLB Network studio host Victor Rojas is leaving the network for a position as play-by-play voice of the Angels. Rojas will fill the vacancy left after the untimely death of Rory Markas.
Rojas, who had been with MLB Network since its debut in ’09, said in a statement that he is “extremely grateful to MLB Network for not only taking a chance on me, but also for allowing me to pursue this opportunity.” Rojas: “I feel like I?m leaving as a better person and broadcaster.”
Also on Wednesday, MLB Network and Fox Business Network announced a partnership in which the two networks will share on-air updates during Spring Training.
Each day through April 1, the Fox Business morning show Imus in the Morning will feature a 60-second preview of MLB Network’s 30 Clubs in 30 Days. Meanwhile, MLB Network will air an FBN Market Update during Spring Training telecasts and the MLB Tonight studio show.
MLB Network hosts Matt Vasgersian, Greg Amsinger and Matt Yallof will anchor the 30 Clubs in 30 Days segments. Rojas was originally listed as one of the hosts as well.
