Record ratings could be the silver lining to the Capitals blowing a 3-1 lead against the #8 seed Canadiens.
Monday’s Capitals/Canadiens Game 6 — won by Montreal to force a Game 7 in their first round series — drew a 5.6 rating on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the highest rating ever for a Capitals playoff game on the network.
The 5.6 exceeds the previous record of 5.5 set by Penguins/Capitals Game 7 last year.
The Capitals’ loss was up 47% from Saturday’s Game 5, which drew a series-low 3.8 rating.
Ratings for Monday’s game peaked at a 7.1 from 8:30-8:45 PM local time. The 7.1 is the second-highest peak rating of the series, behind a 7.4 during Game 1.
Entering Game 7, CSN Mid-Atlantic is averaging a 4.9 rating for the Capitals/Canadiens series, up 63% from a 3.0 for the network’s first six playoff games last year.
