The Lakers’ 111-110 Game 3 win over the Jazz drew a 3.7 final rating and 5.8 million viewers on ABC Saturday, up 16% in ratings and 17% in viewership from Cavaliers/Hawks Game 3 last year (3.2, 5.0 mil), up 16% and 24%, respectively, from Cavaliers/Celtics in ’08 (3.2, 4.7 mil) and up 9% and 18%, respectively, from Suns/Spurs Game 3 in ’07 (3.4, 4.9 mil).
Excluding the Conference Finals and NBA Finals, Lakers/Jazz Game 3 stands as the highest rated, most-viewed primetime NBA game on ABC since Pistons/Pacers Game 6 in ’05 (4.1, 5.9 mil), which aired on a Thursday night.
Ratings and viewership for Sunday’s Cavaliers/Celtics Game 4 were not immediately available.
Despite the solid numbers, Lakers/Jazz was topped head-to-head by the NASCAR Southern 500 on FOX (4.2, 7.0 mil) — a sharp reversal from the overnights, which had Lakers/Jazz beating the race by 13% (4.4 to 3.9).
