It was not nearly as big of a hit as USA/Ghana the previous day — but Sunday’s Mexico/Argentina match still put up good numbers for ABC.
ABC drew a 3.9 overnight rating for the match portion of Mexico/Argentina on Sunday afternoon, the network’s highest overnight of the World Cup for a match that did not involve the United States.
The 3.9 for Sunday’s match marks a 22% increase from Brazil/Ivory Coast the previous Sunday (3.2) and an 11% rise from Germany/Australia two weeks earlier (3.5).
The match drew the second-highest overnight of the weekend of any sporting event on broadcast, behind only the USA/Ghana match on Saturday.
