The NBA released what will likely be its last 82-game schedule for the foreseeable future on Tuesday, with ABC again airing the minimum fifteen games allowed in the league’s television contract.
ABC will make its season debut with the previously announced Christmas Day doubleheader of Celtics/Magic and Heat/Lakers. The network’s regular Sunday schedule begins on January 30, with Heat/Thunder and Celtics/Lakers (1:00 and 3:30 PM ET, respectively).
The Lakers will appear on ABC six times, the Heat, Magic and Celtics will make five appearances, and the Bulls, Thunder, Spurs and Suns will each appear twice. The Nuggets round out the teams appearing on ABC next season with one game.
For the second straight season, ABC will not air games opposite the NCAA Tournament — a move that helped the network hold steady in the ratings last year.
