A strong American League Championship Series helped TBS overcome declines in the Division Series.
TBS averaged a 3.6 U.S. rating and 5.627 million viewers for coverage of the 2010 MLB Postseason, up 9% in ratings and viewership from last year (3.3, 5.146 mil).
The network’s Division Series coverage averaged a 2.8 rating and 4.434 million viewers, down 10% and 7%, respectively, from last year. The Rangers/Yankees ALCS balanced out those early declines, averaging a 5.1 and 8.223 million viewers — up 34% and 36%, respectively, from last year.
The Rangers/Yankees series drew four of the nine largest MLB postseason audiences ever on cable, including two of the top three. TBS owns nine of the ten largest cable audiences for the MLB postseason.
To put the numbers in perspective, TNT averaged a 2.7 and 4.296 million viewers for the 2010 NBA Playoffs, including a 4.6 and 7.854 million for the Lakers/Suns Western Conference Finals.
