One of the longest-tenured broadcast teams in sports could be breaking up — although such rumors have surfaced before.
The New York Times reports that ESPN will decide whether to retain MLB broadcasters Jon Miller and Joe Morgan “soon after” they finish broadcasting the 2010 World Series for ESPN Radio.
The contracts for both broadcasters are set to expire, and with “no announcement yet concerning their futures, it seems likely that one or both may be gone.”
Miller and Morgan are two thirds of the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team, along with Orel Hersheiser. The two have called Sunday Night Baseball games since the program began in 1990.
Just over two years ago, the New York Daily News reported that ESPN was set to break up the Miller/Morgan team, but that never came to fruition.
